TLDR: The GoHighLevel cost for one business is $1,164 a year on monthly billing or $970 a year paid annually, at HighLevel’s list price on September 12, 2026. HighLevel meters usage on top, and one illustrative single-location month at its published rates comes to about $22. Your agency’s retainer sits above both, and this calculator shows you how to split it into software, usage and people.
Your twelve-month bill has three lines: the platform ($970 to $1,164 a year for Starter), the usage (an illustrative $266 a year at HighLevel’s rates), and the people, which is every dollar above those two.
You pay your agency somewhere between $500 and $3,000 a month, the range we see. Inside that invoice sits a HighLevel sub-account, a phone number, a text-messaging line and an email sender. HighLevel publishes the price of every one of those pieces. The question is which line of your invoice buys software and which buys work, and you deserve to know before your next renewal.
This guide builds the number for you, one line at a time, from dated HighLevel pages you are able to open yourself. Replace the illustrative quantities with your own and you have your twelve-month figure.
Line one: what is the GoHighLevel cost for the platform alone?

HighLevel sells three plans directly, and its pricing page on September 12, 2026 lists them at $97, $297 and $497 a month, or $970, $2,970 and $4,970 a year. Each annual price equals ten monthly payments, so twelve monthly payments cost you $1,164, $3,564 and $5,964 against those annual figures. Every plan comes with a 14-day free trial, HighLevel’s own term for it.
Starter is the plan for you. It includes three sub-accounts, unlimited contacts and unlimited users, with the CRM, pipeline management, calendars and appointment scheduling, workflow automation, email marketing, SMS marketing, funnels and landing pages built in. Unlimited at $297 adds unlimited sub-accounts and rebilling of your phone and email usage without markup, and Agency Pro at $497 adds SaaS Mode and rebilling with a markup. Those two plans exist to resell the platform, and a single business needs neither.
One term matters before you pick monthly or annual. HighLevel’s terms of service say it bills subscription fees in advance, monthly or annually, and treats fees for unused subscriptions as generally nonrefundable. So the annual plan is a prepayment, not a discount you collect month by month. Pay annually once you know you are staying.
Line two: what usage adds on top of the GoHighLevel cost

The subscription buys the software. HighLevel meters texts, calls, numbers and email on top, from a wallet it bills separately from your plan. Its phone system pricing guide, updated September 1, 2026, publishes the rates you pay when you own the account.
- A local phone number rents for $1.15 a month. A toll-free number rents for $2.15.
- Text messages cost $0.00747 per segment, sent or received, before carrier fees. A segment is 160 characters of plain text, and Twilio’s character-limit reference shows longer messages splitting into 153-character segments.
- Outbound calls cost $0.0166 a minute and inbound calls answered on the web or mobile app cost $0.01165 a minute, with partial minutes rounded up.
- The receiving carrier charges its own fees on top, and HighLevel applies a fixed 5 percent markup to those pass-through charges at the sub-account level. Its carrier fee notice puts the AT&T surcharge at $0.0035 per text segment from April 1, 2026.
- Email costs $0.675 per 1,000 messages under HighLevel’s LC Email pricing, counting incoming and outgoing mail.
- Business texting needs A2P registration. HighLevel’s A2P fee reference lists a one-time registration bundle of $24.49875 for a low-volume brand and monthly campaign fees from $1.50 to $10, and tells you to check the price in your own Trust Center first.
- AI is optional. HighLevel’s AI product pricing lists AI Employee at $50 a month per location for 1,000 responses and 100 voice minutes, or $97 a month unlimited, and phone charges still apply on AI calls.
Now put those rates into one month for a single location, as an illustration built from published rates and not a benchmark, because your volume sets your bill. One local number is $1.15, and one thousand text segments are $7.47 plus $3.50 in carrier fees at the AT&T rate, which becomes $3.68 with the 5 percent. Three hundred outbound minutes are $4.98, five thousand emails are $3.38, and one low-volume campaign fee is $1.50. That month costs you $22.16, or $265.92 across a year, plus the one-time $24.49875 registration.
Two traps hide in the wallet. First, HighLevel’s billing FAQ says HighLevel bills the subscription and the wallet separately and wallet credit cannot pay the subscription, so a top-up on your card is funding, not proof you used that much. Second, HighLevel deletes phone numbers and A2P registrations 14 days after you cancel and keeps charging for them in those 14 days, per its cancellation guide. Plan your exit around it.
Line three: the people, and what HighLevel charges for help

Everything above the first two lines pays for work, margin or both, and the fairest way to price that work is to look at what the vendor charges for it. HighLevel’s pricing guide sells a done-with-you Advanced Account Setup for $1,000 and lists Premium Support at $500 a month or $5,000 a year, which HighLevel makes available after your first 90 days. When the vendor prices implementation and support as separate products, you have your proof that those are real jobs, distinct from the license.
Own the account and those jobs become yours. HighLevel’s own guides walk you through registering your A2P brand with your exact legal name and tax ID, a campaign with sample messages and consent evidence, and DNS records for a sending domain. Its workflow error notifications are off by default, so somebody has to switch them on and read the Needs Review tab. Its snapshot guide warns that deleting a workflow step drops the contacts waiting on it. None of that is hard, and all of it is time.
I read HighLevel’s pricing page, its terms of service, its phone system pricing guide, its LC Email pricing page, its AI product pricing page, its pricing guide and its billing FAQ before writing this, and every one of them prices the platform, the usage and the help as separate lines. That is the model your invoice should follow. If your agency delivers named work every month, new automations, campaign changes, a person who answers when a workflow breaks, the third line is worth paying. If the deliverable is a branded login, it is not.
The 12-month calculator: owned versus rented

Here is the arithmetic with every input visible, so you swap in yours. The usage column uses the illustrative month above, and the rented row uses the retainer range we see, multiplied by twelve, which is an observation and not a statistic.
| Scenario | Platform | Usage (illustrative) | One-time | Twelve months |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Owned Starter, monthly billing | $1,164 | $265.92 | $24.50 A2P | $1,454.42 |
| Owned Starter, annual billing | $970 | $265.92 | $24.50 A2P | $1,260.42 |
| Owned Starter with HighLevel’s own setup and Premium Support | $970 | $265.92 | $24.50 A2P plus $1,000 setup | $7,260.42 including $5,000 support |
| Rented inside an agency retainer | unknown until itemised | unknown until itemised | unknown | $6,000 to $36,000 at $500 to $3,000 a month |
Read the third row twice. Even when you buy HighLevel’s own implementation and a year of its premium support on top of the software, your total lands around $7,260. Hold your retainer beside that row. The gap between them is either labor you see or margin you do not.
Here is my honest read, and I hold it firmly: the fairest invoice shows two lines, the platform and the people. HighLevel’s Special Prices feature lets an agency set a specific software price for your sub-account, monthly or yearly, so the platform line has a number the agency chose on purpose. Ask what it is.
How to read your own invoice

Your agency’s subscription is not your software cost. One $297 or $497 agency plan hosts every client the agency has, so subtracting $97 from your retainer tells you nothing. HighLevel itself tells agencies, on its own marketing page, that the CRM lets them “charge more than you previously were by offering a platform access fee to your clients,” and its case study shows an agency charging $197 a month for automations, forms and funnels and $297 a month for the full white-labeled platform. Its phone guide even shows a $10 carrier charge becoming $10.50 after the 5 percent and $21 after a 2x agency multiplier, so ask for your usage rate too. Our white label guide walks through how the branding works.
Whether any rule requires it or not, ask, in writing, for three things: your platform access fee, last month’s usage statement, and last month’s list of work. If you hold a login, HighLevel’s account billing dashboard lists each charge before you open the invoice. An agency that answers all three has itemised your bill. One that declines has told you where to look.
Read your contract before you act on the answer, because HighLevel’s transfer process needs the releasing agency to start it. Our GoHighLevel pricing guide covers the plan-by-plan detail if you want the long version.
Ready to own the account? Here is how we help

Spectral Vision runs its own HighLevel agency account with client sub-accounts, so we are not here to say every agency overcharges you. We show you the software’s price and help you own it. Sign up for your own HighLevel account through our link and we migrate your contacts, pipelines, calendars, automations and funnels into it at no charge. You pay HighLevel directly, from $97 a month. We port your number and re-register A2P under your own business as part of the move.
The money comes from HighLevel, not from you. Its affiliate policy pays referrers 40 percent of the subscription each month, which on Starter is $38.80 to us and nothing extra to you. We would rather print that number than let you find it later.
GoHighLevel cost: the questions owners ask

How much does GoHighLevel cost per year for one business?
Starter is $970 a year paid annually or $1,164 across twelve monthly payments, as listed on HighLevel’s pricing page on September 12, 2026. Usage sits on top at published rates, and a single location with one number, moderate texting and a few thousand emails models to roughly $22 a month. Your volume sets your number.
Is GoHighLevel annual pricing the whole bill?
No. The annual price covers the software only. HighLevel meters numbers, texts, calls, carrier fees, A2P campaign fees, email and any AI add-on from a wallet it bills separately from your subscription. Reconcile the wallet transactions, not the top-ups.
Why does my text bill show more segments than texts I sent?
Because billing counts segments in both directions. A plain-text message holds 160 characters in one segment, longer messages split into 153-character pieces, and a single emoji switches the encoding so the limit drops to 70 characters. Replies from your customers bill too.
Does the $97 AI Employee plan include the phone minutes?
No. HighLevel’s AI product page says phone system charges still apply when Voice AI takes a call, so budget the per-minute rate alongside your AI subscription.
How much of my agency retainer is software?
Only your agency knows, because it sets your platform access fee itself and its own plan hosts many clients. Ask for the software line, the usage statement and last month’s list of work, then compare the answer with HighLevel’s own paid setup at $1,000 and Premium Support at $500 a month.
Can I own my HighLevel account and still pay someone to manage it?
Yes. Ownership means your name on the account and your card on the subscription. Hire the same agency or a new one to build and maintain campaigns inside it. The asset stays with you when the relationship ends.
