GoHighLevel Billing Explained: Why Is Your Bill Higher Than the Plan Price?

TLDR: Your GoHighLevel billing total combines the platform subscription with separate usage charges and optional services. Wallet recharges add funds before eligible services deduct charges. Your agency configures the billing for the account it manages.

Phone, email, AI, premium workflow and add-on charges push your bill above the plan price, so compare Settings → Billing → Wallet & Transactions in Agency View with your subscription invoice.

Your card statement shows a bigger charge than the plan price you expected. Another wallet recharge has hit your card, and you need to know what it paid for. HighLevel’s September 16, 2026 agency billing guide separates subscription invoices, wallet activity and add-ons so you know which record to check. This guide gives you the clicks and dated rates to check each charge and ask your agency how it priced your account. I read HighLevel’s billing dashboard guide, its wallet recharge guide and its agency billing guide before writing this, and they explain how to check your invoices, cards and wallet charges.

How does GoHighLevel billing work?

A shop owner works on his laptop among shipping boxes, from our GoHighLevel billing guide — Starter lists at $97 a month as of October 9, 2026.

Your platform subscription pays for features, while telecommunications and AI usage carry separate charges. HighLevel list price as of October 9, 2026: Starter is $97 a month, Unlimited is $297 a month and Agency Pro is $497 a month. The published pricing plans list these direct subscription prices separately from optional add-ons.

Direct plan	Monthly platform price, October 9, 2026
Starter	$97 a month, before separately billed services.
Unlimited	$297 a month, before separately billed services.
Agency Pro	$497 a month, before separately billed services.

The pricing page lists CRM, funnels, workflow automation, social media management and the mobile app among your core features. It also marks email marketing, SMS marketing and calling as usage-based services. Compare your feature needs in our Starter, Unlimited and Agency Pro comparison.

Your Agency Wallet does not pay the recurring agency subscription, according to the billing guide. A recharge adds prepaid funds, then eligible services deduct their charges from that balance. Match the subscription invoice to your plan and wallet transactions to the services used.

Why does your wallet keep recharging?

A salon owner takes a payment at the reception desk, from our GoHighLevel billing guide — Disabling Smart Adjustment leaves Agency Wallet Auto Recharge active.

Your Agency Wallet recharges when its balance falls below your configured threshold. The August 12, 2026 wallet guide says Smart Adjustment raises the recharge amount after the same amount triggers more than three times within seven days. Turn off Smart Adjustment to stop those increases. HighLevel keeps Agency Wallet Auto Recharge active and provides no option to disable it.

In your agency account, open Settings → Billing → Wallet & Transactions.
Under the wallet balance, find the Auto Recharge controls. Use Auto recharge with to select the amount added each time.
Use when balance is lower than to select the balance that triggers another recharge.
To stop automatic increases, open the three-dot menu beside those controls, click Disable Auto-update, then click Yes.

HighLevel’s documents disagree about your wallet threshold. HighLevel’s June 2026 terms specify a $10 USD wallet threshold, while the August wallet guide describes a selectable threshold. Read your configured value in Wallet & Transactions instead of treating either figure as a universal default.

Your recharge receipt records funds added, not the services that consumed them. The wallet guide names Summary and Detailed Transactions as views for reviewing spending by product or sub-account. Compare the receipt that added wallet funds with the transactions that deducted those funds when you review your annual HighLevel costs.

Which usage charges sit above the plan price?

A business owner on a phone call, from our GoHighLevel billing guide — The September 29, 2026 phone guide prices SMS per segment.

LC Phone, LC Email, AI and premium workflow actions add charges above your platform subscription. The September 29, 2026 Phone System Pricing & Billing Guide lists the US and Canada phone rates below in USD. For email marketing, the August 22, 2026 HighLevel Pricing Guide lists LC Email separately.

Service	Published charge and billing unit
LC Phone local number	$1.15 per number per month in the US and Canada, September 29, 2026.
LC Phone SMS	$0.00747 per inbound or outbound segment in the US and Canada, before carrier fees, September 29, 2026.
Outbound calls	$0.0166 per minute for the listed US and Canada rate. Partial minutes round up, September 29, 2026.
LC Email	$0.675 per 1,000 emails across plans, August 22, 2026.

Growth and Unlimited each have a monthly AI fee, while Pay-Per-Use does not. The September 28, 2026 AI Product Pricing article lists Growth at $50 per enabled location per month and Unlimited at $97 per enabled location per month, subject to fair use. HighLevel bills your text messaging and phone calls separately and charges Agent Studio by use under every AI plan.

Your premium automation workflows incur charges even without a Workflow Pro subscription. The September 4, 2025 Workflows Pro pricing guide lists $0.01 per premium execution after 100 included lifetime executions per sub-account. Standard actions and external AI model steps do not count toward the monthly execution allowance, and HighLevel charges overages when paid-plan executions exceed that allowance.

HighLevel’s guides disagree about whether your phone pass-through markup requires rebilling. The September 29 phone guide applies a fixed 5% location markup to specified carrier and registration charges only with rebilling enabled. The September 9, 2026 pass-through markup guide says it applies regardless of rebilling, separately from agency markup.

Open Agency View → Settings → Billing → Wallet & Transactions → Transactions.
Filter by your sub-account, billing period and product. Read the Description and Amount for the charge.
Open Wallet & Transactions → Pricing and search for the product. Compare its billing unit and applicable country with your transaction.

Where do you manage GoHighLevel billing?

An older business owner checks his phone on the office stairs, from our GoHighLevel billing guide — SaaS V2 users delete saved cards through the Billing Dashboard.

Your sub-account billing history and saved cards are under Settings → Billing. The September 28, 2026 Account Billing Dashboard guide lists each invoice and card control. Use the invoice’s products, date, amount and card to identify the charge before changing your payment method.

Inside your sub-account, open Settings → Billing → Charges and Transaction History.
Find the invoice and click View. Review the invoice details, then click Download Invoice for the PDF.
For a replacement card, open Payment Methods, click Add New Card and enter the required details.
Use Set Primary Card to choose the default card for supported billing activity.
Before deleting your old card, review and update any active subscriptions it funds.
To remove a saved card in SaaS V2, open Settings → Billing → Payments → Manage your payment methods.
Find the card, open its three-dot menu and select Delete Card.
Review the confirmation, then click Delete Now.

Your agency subscription invoices use a different route: the agency billing guide names Payments, then Invoices under Payment History. Wallet funding receipts have their own download control in the July 21, 2026 monthly wallet receipt guide. Use Payments → Invoices for your agency subscription charge and Wallet & Transactions → Invoices for a wallet top-up.

For agency subscription invoices, open Agency Settings → Billing → Payments → Invoices under Payment History.
For wallet funding receipts, open Agency Settings → Billing → Wallet & Transactions → Invoices.
Click Download Receipt for the particular month’s wallet top-up PDF.
For a failed agency subscription payment, open Agency Settings → Billing → Payments, find the most recent failed subscription invoice and click Retry. Complete any bank authentication prompt.

To manage your direct agency subscription, open Agency Settings → Billing. The September 16, 2026 billing guide lists each cancellation click in order. These cancellation steps apply only to a direct subscription you manage.

Click Want to modify/cancel your subscription?, then Show More → Cancel Plan.
Select your Reason for Cancellation, click Next and review the data loss warning.
Click I am sure I want to cancel, provide at least 30 words of feedback, then click Submit.

Who bills you when an agency runs your account?

A consultant reviews a tablet in a client's living room, from our GoHighLevel billing guide — HighLevel charges the Agency Wallet before the agency recovers usage costs.

In HighLevel’s rebilling flow, your agency collects the client payment. The September 30, 2026 rebilling guide says HighLevel first charges the Agency Wallet for usage, then the agency recovers the cost through the sub-account wallet. HighLevel supports agency markup, so ask your agency to explain the rates behind your client price.

HighLevel lets agencies on the $297-a-month and $497-a-month plans rebill phone and email costs without markup. The August 22 pricing guide reserves agency markup for the $497-a-month plan and places that markup in SaaS mode. Read your contract and ask which usage rates, add-ons and services appear in your bill, using our HighLevel prices versus agency charges guide.

GoHighLevel billing FAQ

A business owner takes a call while planning at her table, from our GoHighLevel billing guide — HighLevel temporarily halts LC Services when a wallet goes negative.

Why is my GoHighLevel bill higher than the plan price?

Your bill includes usage and optional subscriptions beyond the platform price. HighLevel debits supported resold subscriptions and rebilled usage from your SaaS V2 wallet, according to the December 12, 2025 SaaS V2 billing guide. Those resold subscriptions include AI Employee and Workflow Pro.

Am I paying HighLevel directly or paying an agency?

Your client rebilling payment goes to the agency that sold you access. The September 16, 2026 agency billing guide directs you to the agency administrator for subscription changes or cancellation because HighLevel does not cancel accounts another agency manages. For a disputed charge, ask your administrator to identify the invoice product and explain the applicable rebilling rate.

Which calls, messages, AI features and add-ons cost extra?

HighLevel charges you separately for phone calls, text messages, LC Email, AI usage, premium workflow actions and paid add-ons. Downgrading your agency plan does not automatically cancel add-ons, Marketplace apps, phone numbers or other paid services, according to the September 16, 2026 agency billing guide. Compare each phone, messaging, email, AI, workflow and add-on charge with its invoice or wallet transaction.

Why does my wallet keep charging my card?

Your wallet recharges when its balance drops below the configured threshold. The September 28, 2026 account billing dashboard guide says HighLevel does not automatically send clients receipts for wallet reloads. Your agency sees those wallet transactions, but HighLevel does not send them to you by default.

Where can I find invoices, check usage and update my payment card?

Your sub-account records and cards sit under Settings → Billing, while Agency View uses Wallet & Transactions for usage details. When you change your primary card, HighLevel updates the active SaaS V2 subscription and uses that card for wallet recharges. The September 28, 2026 dashboard guide excludes other subscriptions associated with the same contact, so review those subscriptions separately before removing the old card.

What happens if a payment fails?

The September 16, 2026 agency billing guide says you retain access for 21 days after an agency subscription payment fails, then face account locking if unpaid, with retries for up to 30 days from failure. The June 2026 terms instead specify 28 business days of retries and allow earlier access restrictions, so ask HighLevel customer support to confirm your account’s status. A failed recharge that leaves your wallet at zero puts your phone, SMS and email services at risk of interruption, according to the September 30, 2026 guide to rebilling and wallets. A negative wallet temporarily halts LC Services, and a successful payment must reload it before services resume.

How do I cancel, and can I get a refund?

For a direct subscription you manage, open Agency Settings → Billing → Want to modify/cancel your subscription? → Show More → Cancel Plan, or contact your agency administrator if you bought access through an agency. Under the June 2026 terms, HighLevel does not refund unused subscription time except where law requires it or HighLevel exercises its discretion. You must request a refund of any money left in your wallet after your services end. The terms say funds left over 30 days after account expiration, termination or cancellation become HighLevel’s property.

Can You Keep Your Business Phone Number When You Leave a Marketing Agency? Phone Number Porting Explained

By Elijah LeFavour, Chief AI Officer at Spectral Vision. Published September 20, 2026.

TLDR: Where your business phone number sits today decides how you keep it. A number with an outside carrier moves to your own account through phone number porting, and the account holder of record signs that request. A number inside your agency’s HighLevel account moves with your whole sub-account when the agency transfers it between two LC Phone accounts, or alone when HighLevel Support migrates it, and every path needs a close read of your contract before you give notice.

If your business is the carrier’s account holder of record, you sign the port request yourself, and if the number sits in your agency’s HighLevel account, the agency or HighLevel Support moves it, so read your contract before you ask.

You call a number every day. Your customers know it. Your voicemail greeting is on it. If your marketing agency set up your phone line inside its HighLevel account, the agency controls that account. Now you want to leave and keep the number.

Here is my honest read: your phone number is the first business asset to protect when you leave, and your path out starts with one fact, where the number sits today.

Who Controls Your Number? Phone Number Porting Starts With the Account Holder

A smartphone resting on a wooden table, representing a business line during phone number porting — The name on the carrier account decides who signs a port request.

I read both FCC orders on number portability and HighLevel’s phone number migration and porting guides before writing this, and the timeline you should expect comes from HighLevel’s guides, not from the FCC’s one-business-day rule for simple carrier-to-carrier ports.

The losing carrier checks every port request against its own records. HighLevel’s porting guide says your name and address “must match your carrier records exactly,” and your letter of authorization must be “signed by the authorized person.” If your business opened the carrier account, that person is you. If the agency opened it, the agency holds that signature.

A HighLevel migration guide separates migration from porting. If your agency’s monthly fee covers a phone line it set up in LC Phone, your number sits in a sub-account the agency controls. It leaves one of two ways: the agency transfers the whole sub-account to your account, and the number goes with it when both accounts use LC Phone, or HighLevel Support migrates the number alone to your own LC Phone or Twilio account. Moving a number in from a carrier outside HighLevel is phone number porting, the carrier-to-carrier process the two FCC orders below address. Before you submit anything, ask HighLevel Support which path applies and what authorization it requires, and read your contract’s number-ownership terms.

What Do FCC Porting Rules Require, and How Long Will Your Move Take?

A wooden gavel resting on its block, representing the public rules behind phone number porting — The FCC porting orders are public, so you get to read them yourself.

Two FCC orders shape phone number porting. FCC 03-237, a 2003 order on wireless-to-wireless porting, says “the Commission’s number portability rules impose on carriers an obligation to port numbers to other carriers upon receipt of a valid request to do so,” and that “carriers may not refuse to complete a port while attempting to collect fees or settle an account with a customer.” On a wireless port, that protects you when your business is the carrier’s customer, but it erases no debt, and the order does not “sanction or encourage consumers to breach their contractual obligations.”

The second, FCC 10-85 from 2010, carries the rule text: carriers “must complete a simple wireline-to-wireline or simple intermodal port request within one business day unless a longer period is requested by the new provider or by the customer.” Simple ports cover only single-line accounts with no reseller involved, and the clock starts when the old carrier gets a complete request from your new provider.

HighLevel’s guides set out your real timeline:

Outside-carrier port of fewer than 50 numbers: about two to four weeks after you submit documents
Larger ports: about six to eight weeks
Migration: about one to two business days once Support has all required information
Sub-account transfer: once you approve the agency’s request and nothing blocks it

For an outside-carrier port, you need a letter of authorization signed by the account holder, a carrier bill no more than 90 days old, your service address, and your carrier account details. The losing carrier checks them against its own records, then sets a Firm Order Commitment window, and HighLevel says carriers do not promise exact dates or times.

The A2P Registration Catch: Texting Permissions Differ From Phone Number Porting

Two connected smartphones side by side, representing texting registration alongside phone number porting — Check whether your texting registration moves with your number, and plan for it.

Here is the trap: moving the number does not always move your texting registration. If the agency transfers your whole sub-account and both accounts use LC Phone, HighLevel says “Eligible A2P registration stays with the numbers.” If the number moves alone, by migration or phone number porting, your A2P status sits with “the account or sub-account environment rather than only the phone number.”

Twilio’s A2P 10DLC documentation explains the structure. Your brand tells carriers “who is sending these messages.” Your campaign describes “the purpose of your messages,” so list what you send today, such as appointment reminders and two-way texting. Twilio says anyone texting US phones from an application over a 10DLC number “must register for A2P 10DLC.”

For a number moving alone, HighLevel’s own phone move guide says A2P registration “should not be assumed to transfer with the number,” so start or verify registration in your new account before the move and attach the number to your approved campaign before you rely on texting.

Phone Number Porting, Migration or Transfer: The Step-by-Step Order That Avoids Delays

A staircase spiraling upward, representing the order of steps in phone number porting — Your number move goes more smoothly when you follow the steps in order.

Your move looks simple until one detail stalls it. Follow this order and you avoid the delays HighLevel’s guides warn about:

Step	Action	Why It Matters
1	Inventory your numbers and identify the account holder	The name on the carrier account, or the HighLevel account holding the number, decides whether you port, migrate, or ask the agency for a sub-account transfer. Get the account holder name, service address, and carrier account number from your last carrier bill.
2	Create your own HighLevel account and start your A2P brand registration	A number that moves alone needs an approved campaign in your account. Start early so your review is already underway.
3	Move your number to your new account	Submit your letter of authorization and carrier bill for an outside-carrier port, your destination Location ID or Twilio Account SID for a migration, or your account’s Relationship Number for a sub-account transfer the agency sends.
4	Attach the number to your approved A2P campaign	Once the number is in your account, attach it to your approved campaign before you rely on texting.
5	Test inbound and outbound calls and texts	Call the number from another phone. Send yourself a test SMS. Verify routing and automation workflows before you tell customers the number moved.
6	Give notice under your contract	Once calls and texts test clean, give notice the way your contract requires, and ask the agency to keep the old account active until the move is complete.

The order matters when your number moves alone. Move it first and register second, and you lose registered texting until your new campaign clears review. Register first, and your review is already underway when the number arrives.

What If Your Agency Will Not Release the Number

A closed wooden door with a brass handle, representing a stalled phone number porting request — Start with your own paperwork, then ask in writing before anyone submits a request.

Start with your own paperwork. Read your contract for number ownership, port-out rights, fees, and termination terms, and have your own attorney read anything unclear before you sign or approve any request.

Option one is to ask. Request in writing that the agency transfer your sub-account or release your number, and agree on the steps before anyone submits a request.

Option two works only when your business, not the agency, is the account holder on the carrier’s records. Confirm that on a bill from the phone carrier itself, not an agency invoice, because HighLevel asks for the carrier’s bill showing the account owner name. Then submit your port request with your letter of authorization and that bill.

Option three covers a number inside the agency’s HighLevel account. It moves by a Support-coordinated migration or, between two LC Phone accounts, by a sub-account transfer, which by default only the Agency Owner requests or completes. Neither is a carrier port, so the FCC orders above do not describe it. Take any disagreement over the number to your own attorney.

Your Path Forward: Get Your Number Working in Your Own Account First

A business owner and an advisor talking across a table about phone number porting — Ask every question about the move before you sign anything.

Aim to have your number working in your own HighLevel account before your agency access ends. Test your workflows and automation, your SMS messaging and call tracking, and your A2P campaign there, then give notice the way your contract requires. See how the move works before you start.

Sign up for your own HighLevel account through our link and we migrate your contacts, pipelines, calendars, automations and funnels into it at no charge. You pay HighLevel directly, from $97 a month. That $97 is the HighLevel list price as of September 15, 2026, and every plan starts with HighLevel’s own 14-day free trial. Porting and A2P re-registration are handled as part of the move. Start your own HighLevel account.

Frequently Asked Questions

A business owner on a bench by a window, considering common questions about phone number porting — You likely have questions about porting your number, and that is normal.

Does a carrier refuse to port my number because I owe the agency money?

The FCC rule covers the carrier’s own bills, not your agency’s. In FCC 03-237, a 2003 wireless porting order, the Commission barred carriers from refusing to complete a port while trying to collect fees or settle an account with their own customer. Money you owe your agency is a matter for your agency contract, so read its payment and termination terms first.

How long does it take to port a number?

Plan in weeks for a port and in business days for a migration. HighLevel puts an outside-carrier port of fewer than 50 numbers at about two to four weeks after your documents are in and a migration at about one to two business days, while a sub-account transfer waits on your approval of the agency’s request. The FCC’s one-business-day rule covers only simple wireline and intermodal ports, counted from the old carrier’s receipt of a complete request. If the carrier rejects your request, HighLevel shows the reason in the Port-In Numbers tab or by email, and you submit a corrected new one.

What happens to my old text message history when my number moves?

It depends on the path. A whole sub-account transfer keeps “Conversations and conversation history” with the sub-account, but HighLevel says moving or porting a number alone “does not automatically move contacts, conversation history” or recordings into a new account. If your number moves alone, export any critical history from your agency’s HighLevel account before the move and before the agency removes your access.

Do I have to use HighLevel for my number after I leave my agency?

No. A number already in LC Phone moves to your own Twilio account by a HighLevel Support migration. If you pick a provider outside HighLevel, that provider submits the port request, the account holder of record signs the authorization, and the losing carrier checks it against its own records.

What if the agency says the number is part of their proprietary system?

Check the records before you argue. Ask which carrier account or HighLevel account holds the number and whose name is on it. If your business is the carrier’s account holder of record, you sign the port request yourself. If the number sits in the agency’s HighLevel account, it moves through a Support-coordinated migration or, when both accounts use LC Phone, a sub-account transfer the agency starts, so read your contract’s number-ownership terms and take any disagreement to your own attorney.

Do I port my number while I am still under contract with the agency?

Read your contract first. The carrier checks a port request against its own records, not against your agency contract, and the FCC’s 2003 order says it does not “sanction or encourage consumers to breach their contractual obligations.” Have your own attorney read your termination and number-ownership terms if they are unclear, and if the number sits in the agency’s HighLevel account, talk to the agency and HighLevel Support before you act.
